Snap Shelf Tag
Snap Shelf Tag is a fully offline app for organizing your photos onto shelves, tagging and captioning them, and browsing them as a timeline. This page explains what the app does and does not do with your data.
Snap Shelf Tag does not collect, transmit, or share any personal information. Your photos, and everything you build around them, stay on your device.
Information we collect
None. Snap Shelf Tag has no accounts, no sign-up and no login. We do not ask for your name, email address, phone number or any other personal detail, and there is no server that could receive one.
Data stored on your device
To make the app work, Snap Shelf Tag stores the following only on your device, using the operating system's local storage:
- Photos you import from your device gallery, together with any captions and tags you add to them.
- The shelves you create and which photos belong to each shelf.
- Which photos you have marked as favorites.
- A curator name you may optionally set to personalize the app.
- Small app preferences — for example, whether you have finished the introduction screens and your view settings.
This information is kept in a local database and the standard on-device preferences store. It never leaves your device. It is not uploaded to Snap Shelf Tag or to any third party. Uninstalling the app or clearing its storage deletes all of it permanently.
Permissions
Snap Shelf Tag does not request any sensitive runtime permissions — no camera, location, microphone, contacts or background access. When you add pictures, the app opens your operating system's own photo picker, which returns only the images you explicitly choose; the app never scans or reads the rest of your gallery. The Android package includes the standard INTERNET permission that ships by default with common Flutter components, but the app opens no network connections of its own (see “Network use” below).
Network use
None. Snap Shelf Tag works entirely offline. It does not contact any server, does not send or receive data over the network, and keeps working with no connection at all — including in airplane mode. When you use the system share sheet to share a photo, it is your operating system, not this app, that decides where the file goes.
Third-party services
None. The app integrates no analytics, advertising, crash-reporting or tracking services of any kind. It relies only on standard on-device functionality — a local database, the operating system's photo picker, and the operating system's share sheet — none of which send your data to us or to anyone else.
Children's privacy
Snap Shelf Tag is suitable for all ages. Because it collects no personal information and transmits nothing off the device, it complies with children's privacy regulations such as COPPA and GDPR-K by design. It contains no advertising and no in-app purchases.
Your rights
Because all of your data lives only on your device, you are always in full control of it. You can delete any photo, caption, tag or shelf from within the app at any time. Uninstalling the app, or clearing its storage in your device settings, permanently erases everything it has stored. As we hold none of your data on any server, there is nothing for us to access, export or delete on your behalf.
Changes to this policy
If this policy ever changes, the date at the top of this page will be revised. Material changes will be noted in the app's release notes.
